Border control coordination

Border control coordination division organizes, coordinates, and controls the activities of phytosanitary posts (departments) of border control points related to:

• control of the phytosanitary status of the import of plants, plant products and objects related to them into the Republic of Lithuania and the EU and transit transportation;
• control of compliance of wooden packaging materials imported from third countries with established phytosanitary requirements;
• border control of genetically modified plants and plant products and propagating material not intended for human food and animal feed, imported into the Republic of Lithuania and the EU and transported in transit, as well as border monitoring of consignments of plants, plant products and propagating material that could contain genetically modified organisms;
• border control of invasive alien plant species in order to ensure the 2014 October 22 European Parliament and Council Regulation (EU) No. 1143/2014 on the prevention and management of the introduction and spread of invasive alien species (OJ 2014 L 317, p. 35), the implementation of Article 15, paragraph 2;
• control of compliance with trade standards of imported fresh fruits and vegetables;
• control of plant protection products imported into the Republic of Lithuania from countries outside the EU and outside the European Economic Area and transported in transit;
• checking the requirements of imported fertilizing products;
• issuing plant passports for imported plants, plant products or other objects.
